List member, Shaun Else,? put together this site on integrating
Podcasting into Education for a Reading course this past winter.
Podcasting is basically the web version of the radio.? Using this simple
technology is just starting to blossom in classrooms around the world.
The website gives an introduction to the topic, samples, curriculum
links, ideas and software/hardware suggestions.

So, that’s it for a week or so.? I’m off on a spring break and will
return on April 3rd!

Yesterday’s site on sound reminded List Member, Layne, of a very cool
site called ‘freesound’, which is “a collaborative database of Creative
Commons licensed sounds.” There are a ton of source sounds, from
instrument samples to field recordings of anything imaginable, all
uploaded by anyone who wants to contribute, and all available to
incorporate into music or soundscape or whatever for free (as long as
you attribute sounds used to their creators).? This would be a great
resource for someone incorporating something like garageband into a
music curriculum, also a great place to share field recordings if a
class was doing a recording project. I know I’ll be sharing this with my
students today!
