Pandora

My friend, Karen Gwozd-Cornish, found Pandora and passed it on.? It
helps you make (new) music choices based on music that you currently
enjoy.? Karen was talking with a friend who was saying that people tend
to like tunes/songs that use similar notes, tones, etc. sometimes even
if they are of different music genres like country vs. classical.? Very
interesting!? (A side note: another friend, Shannon McMorran recommended
this site a few days after Karen – it must be a good one!)

The Shroud of Turin

List member, Steve Feld, wrote in about this project that examines the authenticity of? The Shroud of Turin, and the possibility that Leonardo created it, in light of the recreation of the Shroud by Stephen Beckman who used a pinhole camera with renaissance technology and materials.? In the spirit of “that’s an interesting thought”, I recommend the site – but please know that I’m not trying to offend anyone’s beliefs here.? Perhaps some interesting discussions will come of it though!

Wildlife Cams

In addition to the eagle-cam I sent out yesterday, Linda Foote from Poway, CA, has a few other live-cams that her students have been tracking.

Eagle Eye Live Cam

My sister-in-law, Jo-anne, told me about this site that she and her friend, Mrs. T. found.? On Hornby Island, British Columbia, a nesting pair of bald eagles is waiting to hatch their latest additions.? The owners of the property on which they are camped out have placed a live webcam nearby so that people can watch from the Internet.? The video feed is amazing and there is even sound!? You can hear all sorts of activity as people walk through the yard, sea lions bark as they swim by and of course, the eagles sometimes let loose with a few vocalizations of their own.? It’s a fascinating look at wildlife that we rarely get to see!? IF you’re a Mac user – it won’t work on Safari for some reason.? Switch to Internet Explorer or FireFox to see the feed…
