Several people told me about Adobe’s launch of the public beta of their Photoshop Express web service yesterday. The site requires Flash Player 9 and offers an entirely web-based image editor. You can organize photos by dragging them into albums or create a gallery to share images. The service also lets you email links images stored online, embed them in a Web page, or download them. Photoshop Express offers 2GB of storage with the ability to crop, rotate, and touch up your images. It also integrates with a number of photo-sharing websites. Need a few tutorials to get started? List member, Lorne Cooper, passed on a site that HIS friend, Tom Whyte found… Breathing Earth displays the carbon dioxide emission levels of every country in the world, along with birth and death rates. Assuming accuracy, this should make for some pretty interesting discussions in the classroom! Might fit in well with EarthHour 2008 (http://www.earthhour.org/) that I mentioned a few weeks ago…

My pal, Terry Korte, wanted to know what the chances are that the Oilers will make the playoffs. He found this site and shared it. Sports Club Stats puts the stats together for you and explains the process. It would be a gold-mine for math teachers who are looking for a sports-angle to use in class!

My old roomie and teaching pal, Sean Beaton, is trekking in Mozmbique and South Africa with his students this week! This week, they are in Maputo working with street kids and then will be moving on to South Africa next week to work on game reserves. There are actually three trips that his school, Calgary Academy, are conducting. The African trip is one, others are in Romania and a third group is in Peru. All lead-teachers are posting to their respective blogs if you care to read about their adventures.
