I got this from my pal, Andy Lummis. Math Central is an Internet service for mathematics students and teachers. The site is maintained by faculty and students in Mathematics and Statistics and Mathematics Education at the University of Regina in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. It became an internet site in September, 1995 and has since earned several awards.

I’ll be back in a week – Spring Break has arrived here in Edmonton, even if spring itself hasn’t…

Phrontistery – a thinking place

Eliot Frosst – an Albertan transplanted to Nova Scotia, send this interesting site along a wile back. The Phrontistery (n. a thinking-place [Gr phrontisterion from phrontistes a thinker, from phroneein to think] holds the International House of Logorrhea (an online dictionary of obscure and rare words), the Compendium of Lost Words (a compilation of ultra-rare forgotten words), and many other glossaries, word lists, essays, and other language and etymology resources.

Animoto – photo videos

This little gadget has come across my desk a few times already – most recently by my friend, Darcy Lummis. Animoto produces TV & film-quality music videos using your photos in just minutes. Simply upload your images & choose a song as the soundtrack to your video. Animoto will then analyze every nuance of the song, producing a totally unique video each time. No two videos are ever the same. Videos can then be e-mailed, downloaded, exported to your favorite social networking site, burned to DVD, and placed on your website or blog.
