Ansel Adams – Visualization

Ansel Adams often referred to visualization as the key to making photography an art, not just a hobby. I found this rare video footage of him, as he explains what he meant.

I got this site from Florida List member, Debra Meyer. Into the Book is a reading comprehension resource for K-4 students and teachers. Focus on eight research-based strategies: Using Prior Knowledge, Making Connections, Questioning, Visualizing, Inferring, Summarizing, Evaluating and Synthesizing. There are videos and online interactive activities. Behind the Lesson provides information and teaching resources for each strategy.

Images from the History of Medicine

My friend, Rob Wallace, found this collection of images from the history of medicine. Click on Search/Browse to find some interesting and somewhat useful imagery for visual projects in any course or to start a discussion in social studies or promotional arts.

The Isla Earth Radio Series

Today’s site was sent to me by List member, Craig White. The Isla Earth Radio Series is a fun and engaging weekday radio program with an information rich website and free monthly newsletter called the e-Digest. Their team of science writers and editors scour the planet for breaking news about the issues most critical to the health and well- being of this island we call Earth. They cover stories from Antelopes to the near-extinction of the Zuber. They also bring you the latest on alternative energy development and about the environmental and conservation work of community groups and organizations. An excellent website/resource for environmental science educators.

As with all opinion-based resources, please ensure that you review them to ensure that they are suitable to your purposes beforehand.
