Virtual Fieldtrips

Fort Benning teacher, Krys Tuten, found this amazing collection of touring sites dealing with history/social studies, language arts, math and science. I just spend more time on this one that I should have – it’s one of ‘those’ sites!

Vote for your Top Teacher List Resource!

Mike Belluz from southwest Ontario, had a great idea this morning. He thought people would be interested in a sort of Top Ten list of Teacher List recommendations. I added a voting system on each post, so I thought we could use that. Under each post is a “Vote!” link. For the site/resource you like the best, click that link and your vote will be registered. No other information is collected – just that a vote was cast for that post. There are currently over 1600 recommendations on the blog so please select your favourite Teacher List resource by December 31st and I’ll share the results in the new year.

And to make it more interesting, if anyone wants to sponsor some Teacher List gear as a draw-style prize, then please contact me directly. I’ll make the draw from all registered List Members.

And most importantly, tell your colleagues and pass it around Facebook/Twitter, etc. The Polls are now open!

Diigolet

Teaching pal, Lance Pedersen, told me about Diigolet the other day. Diigolet is not as feature-rich as the Diigo toolbar, but it can be set-up by simple drag-and-drop – no download or installation needed, and it works for all major browsers. Much more powerful than bookmarklets offered by other social bookmarking sites, Diigolet is a “super bookmarklet” that allows you to highlight and add sticky-notes, in addition to simple bookmarking.

The Theme Machine

Kelowna teacher, Sharon Affeld, found the Theme Machine – a collection of downloadable themes for your classroom. Nametags, bookmarks, classroom money – you name it they seem to have it all! I see also that they welcome requests on new themes…
