Rhyme-A-Week Lesson Plans

I sometimes worry about strange things – like the fact that no one tells jokes verbally anymore or that we no longer have to avoid friends who have a zero in their phone number because it takes too long to dial them. Now, anyone who can fwd an email is hilarious. Who even dials a full number string to reach someone when we dial our phones with a single button press? Another area I worry about is that nursery rhymes (and Aesop’s Fables and faerie tales) are no longer getting a lot attention by children. This Webbing Into Literacy resource uses classic nursery rhymes in a weekly format. Teachers download the rhyme card, the card set and riddle rhymes for that week’s sound and then the five-day lesson plan for that week.

  • Belize Literacy Program

In November 2012, members of the Belize Ministry of Education, principals, and lead teachers met in each of the six districts for two days of conversations and discussions around the challenges and next steps in integrating technology to support teaching and learning in Belize. The sessions highlighted global trends and challenges from the K-12 Horizon Report, the National Education Technology Standards (NETS) for students, teachers, and administrators, as well as an overview of the content from the August 2012 technology workshop for teachers.
