rickmercerThanks to my pal, Shelley Boan, who shared with our staff this Rick Mercer Rant about bullying in school. If you’re not familiar with him, Rick Mercer is a CBC personality who often hits the nail on the head with social commentary. This might be a good way to start conversations about National Anti-Bullying Week, which begins next week. Probably best for high-school audiences or preview the clip yourself to determine if your group will benefit.

To This Day Project – Shane Koyczan

I watched this bullying video yesterday and thought it would be a great starting point for older students who are discussing this important aspect of their digital citizenship. You may remember slam poet Shane Koyczan (@koyczan) who performed at the opening ceremonies of the 2010 Winter Olympics. This TedED Lesson is a poignant, moving and sometimes uncomfortable look at a pervasive topic. There are several instructional supports included in the lesson.
